The outdoor condenser unit sits on a pad outside the house and holds the compressor and condenser coil, which are the core of the system. Inside, the air handler or furnace-mounted coil lives in a utility space, basement, or attic and works with the outdoor unit to condition air that the blower then pushes through the house.
